STABTAR – Instructions for a proper maintenance

Stabtar is a resin-based tartaric stabilizer: its functions consist in lowering the pH of the must/wine, reducing potassium content and releasing the acidity of must/wine that is treated.

Reduced water consumption and ease of use and maintenance make this equipment extremely efficient. It works through the hydraulic and pneumatic supply, connected to a software that, thanks to a dedicated program, manages the whole process and the 4 utilities to which it is connected: electricity, air, water and wine/must.

A pump will take the must/wine through the hydraulic circuit and the regenerated resin, where the chemical exchange takes place.

However, it is essential to take some precautions to ensure that it will work in the best possible way, without causing any problem. What are the steps necessary to get it started?

  • Check utilities: they must be connected correctly, and so must be pipes and regeneration products.
  • Examine pipes and gaskets: it is essential to verify they have not been damaged and there is absolutely no risk of any leakage.
  • Test the probes: always check their correct functioning and keep them periodically calibrated. The four probes present in Stabtar are essential tools as they allow the operator to be aware when the machine is ready for start-up or when the treatment is completed.

Once the processing parameters have been set, the operator must only connect the pipes to the tank that will be treated and press the “Start” button. From here on, the Stabtar screen will show each singular step of the process, allowing the operator to always monitor the process in real time.

At the end of the harvest, in case the machine will no longer be used, it is necessary to set the machine in a state of “Rest”. What needs to be done?

  • Check that the equipment does not show any problem and it is not damaged.
  • Clean the resins with special products such as Resinew and perform a regeneration cycle with stronger solutions.
  • Keep the probes dipped in a maintenance solution.
